Organization Summary: REDOIL is a program of the Indigenous Environmental Network which is a non-profit organization working with Native community-based organizations and Native Nations throughout North Americas on environmental and economic justice issues. REDOIL is a grassroots Alaska Native organization that strives to protect the health and well being of Alaska Natives, and the environment upon which they depend from unsustainable energy and mineral development.

The three core focus areas of REDOIL are: Job Summary: Implement the Tribal Campus Climate Challenge in Alaska through outreach to students at selected tribal colleges and universities throughout Alaska; taking action around climate change and global warming issues, as part of the nation-wide Energy Action Coalitions - Campus Climate Challenge. The mission of the Campus Climate Challenge is to build a generation-wide movement to stop global warming. Through a carefully targeted strategy, the national campaign will convey the urgency of the climate crisis while building a compelling vision of a renewable energy economy through tangible victories on hundreds of college and university campuses. Students across North America are already taking concrete action on their campuses to tackle global warming with relatively little support and scant media attention. With a greater infusion of resources, college campuses can become the epicenter of a broader, sustained movement. Organization Summary: The Indigenous Environmental Network is a non-profit organization working with Native community-based organizations and Native Nations throughout North America on environmental and economic justice issues. IEN has programs supporting frontline Native communities to protect land, water, air, biodiversity, and community public health. Since 1990, IEN has been one of the leading environmental justice networks within North America, moving forward a Native-based grassroots agenda on addressing environmental justice and promoting the building of sustainable communities.

Job Summary: Work with the Indigenous Environmental Network to continue outreach to students at selected tribal and non-tribal colleges and universities throughout the Midwest/Great Lakes; taking action around climate change and global warming issues, as part of the nation-wide Energy Action Coalitions - Campus Climate Challenge. Outreach and Environmental Justice Director - Energy Action Coalition

POSITION TYPE: Full Time Permanent

COMPENSATION RANGE: Dependent on Experience

DESCRIPTION:

The Energy Action Coalition is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated individual to serve as Outreach and Environmental Justice Director. This position will provide direct support to the environmental justice and economic justice organizations within the coalition, namely Environmental Justice and Climate Change Initiative, www.ejcc.org; Black Mesa Water Coalition, www.blackmesawatercoalition.org; Indigenous Environmental Network www.ienearth.org; League of Young Voters www.theleague.com; and organizations yet to join. This position will help grow the coalition by conducting extensive outreach to economic and environmental justice organizations and will serve as their primary point of contact with the coalition.
